“Voteing Day” (sp?) LOL

The boys have white boards for school that I made them to write their names, the day of the week and the date each day. There is an extra line which Wheat decided he would use to write whatever he wanted to write like his mood or what he is excited about or just a favorite thing in general. Today as we greatly anticipated the results of the election, he wrote “Voteing Day” on his board. Although it was spelled wrong, it was too cute to correct. I am so glad he understands so much about things going on around him. Jason and I both admit we probably didn’t even know who our president was when we were fifteen. And we are very happy with the results of this 2008 election even though our president-elect doesn’t stand for every issue in the way we would have chosen. He is the lesser of two evils and we are so excited about the magnificent things he has already accomplished and will continue to in the years to come. Hooray for equality!!

Fun in the mountains…

Just doin’ a little kickin’ in Gatlinburg enjoying the amazing Fall weather!

Lego guys…

Note to self: Spray paint the costumes at least a week or two in advance of the holiday so they gas off the fumes before the children wear them for several hours. Halloween would be much more fun if the kids weren’t walking around the Fall Frenzy at church high as kites! LOL

So with a little hot glue, some paper bowls, spray paint and a few boxes…the boys’ dreams came true. Their favorite thing in the world is legos. I didn’t exactly anticipate how difficult it would be for them to play games at church but they did quite nicely and even came home with some gift certiciates for such great costumes! (patting myself on the back, yes, thank you)

Soccer Dayz…

Posted by KK on Saturday, 25 October, 2008

This was Wheat’s 7th season playing AYSO soccer and Lake’s 4th although this Fall season was the very first time they were able to be on the same team together. They had a lot of fun and I coached again. I loved having them on the same team because this meant I only had to coach one team, we only had one practice and one game each week instead of two. All that being said, I was still ready for the season to wrap only halfway through. Nonetheless, we all had a lot of fun and we had a great group of kids on our team. This was their very last game of the season with their little trophy ceremony afterwards. During the game, Wheat wears the orange number 8 jersey (we had to trade him to the other team who needed a player) and Lake is wearing green jersey number 6. Great job boys!!

Pitchin’ our tent…

…literally. This was our first camping trip with family. We went to Dale Hollow Dam in Selina, TN. It was a lot of fun and the boys loved camping with their cousins.

Who needs a classroom….we have the world!

I love my husband!

Who needs to travel miles to visit a butterfly garden when you can step right off the back deck into one. Every year my husband and his big fat green thumb plants so many beautiful flowers and plants specifically to attract the most unique species of insects in our back yard. We had more butterflies this year than ever. When you peered into our flower garden there were always dozens fluttering about the tops of the flowers. It is so beautiful….I wish they ate mosquitoes! Alongside the flowers and butterflies we grew and ate our own tomatoes, raspberries and blueberries (but not many before the birds gobbled them up). You will never hear these words out of my mouth…”I wish my husband watched more sports on television”…LOL.

Here are a few amazing pictures he took of them. (A good camera doesn’t hurt either)

First day of school ’08

Mine as well get a bit of a head start, eh? The boys are very anxious to start and I am ready so here we go!

Wheat is beginning 2nd grade while Lake is beginning 1st. River…well, he thinks he is in 2nd grade, too. We’ll see what gets accomplished with him. I made him a desk between the boys so he feels special, too. :)
